The basis of a Lamett laminate is an HDF-board (High Density Fibre Board). A pattern layer is put on top of that board followed by a transparent melamine coating for durability. The pattern layer is a photograph of wood which is printed onto paper. A balance layer is put on the base which ensures that the laminate panels cannot become distorted and are protected against rising damp. All the laminate layers are pressed together in a high-pressure press and the wood grain is pressed into the top layer. In the majority of our laminate collections this structure corresponds with the wood design.
The noise nuisance with laminate is often highly exaggerated, especially if the installation is done correctly. To reduce noise nuisance to a minimum, laminate is best installed floating. Include noise insulation with this and ensure that the skirting boards do not rest on the parquet. Suspend them about 3 mm above the floor and fill the gap with an elastic joiner spray.
Using laminate/parquet is not recommended in a damp environment (bathroom, kitchen, sauna, etc.). At all times avoid leaving liquids on the floor. Dry maintenance of your laminate floor with a microfiber cloth is also recommended. All dirt and dust may be removed with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a soft parquet brush. If necessary, remove any remaining difficult dirt with a specially designed laminate cleaner.
Lamett laminate floors may be installed on top of existing floors (e.g. parquet, tiles, vinyl, …) without any problem but a subfloor or a damp screen must be installed first. Even out the existing surface before laying the subflooring. Soft flooring must be removed beforehand.
Laminate or parquet boards may be laid either vertically or horizontally depending on your personal preference. The most attractive effect is achieved if you lay the floor parallel to the main source of light or the stairs or fireplace.
When installing a laminate floor it is important to lay a subfloor. This ensures that any irregularities in the substructure are removed, that there is good sound insulation and that there is optimal protection against damp and vapor.
Yes but ensure that the direction the boards are laid is opposite to the OSB. Ideally the OSB should also be coarsely sanded down to remove any paraffin layer. Adhesion has the advantage that the entire laminate surface may be laid at once and that no profiles are needed at doors and stairs. Definitely ensure sufficient sound insulation between OSB and the substructure to prevent downwards noise transfer.
All Lamett floorboard floors (excluding solid collections) may be used in combination with under floor heating with no problem on condition that it is a non-electric driven under floor heating with a maximum temperature of 26°C on the surface. A constant relative humidity of 45-60% must be maintained. Follow the special instructions for under floor heating.
A newly poured concrete floor must be allowed to dry sufficiently. The drying period depends on the thickness of the concrete. Before installing parquet or laminate you must first check the percentage of moisture in the concrete (concrete moisture meter). It must be lower than 2%.
House dust mite and other allergens cannot survive on a thoroughly cleaned laminate floor. This is very important for people with dust allergies or asthma.
The common misconception in the grading of wood flooring is that people think the grading reflects the quality of the flooring. This is not correct!
The real purpose of grading is to classify the flooring’s style. For example Europeans love “rustic” flooring that is completely covered with knots and cracks.
For more information about specific grading descriptions per collection, click here.
| Grades | Description |
| A/B | No knots, no sapwood, no color difference |
| C | Small knots allowed, sapwood allowed, slight color difference allowed |
| D/E | Big knots, huge color differences |
| F | Big knots, huge color differences, huge cracks, blue mark, water markings |
All stains and smudges must be removed immediately before they are given a chance to dry. Various handy methods for removing stains are given below:
- Fruits, milk, cream, beer, wine, coffee, tea, juice and other drinks: use water with a soft cleaning agent.
- Shoe polish, oil, tar, asphalt, scratches from the soles of shoes on the floor: remove the stain using turpentine or Woca stain remover.
- Ink, pencil, lipstick, dried glue: cleaning alcohol should be used for these.
- Blood: clean with cold water.
Multi-layer wood is more stable than 3 layer wood in that it has interlocking properties that dramatically reduces expansion from moisture and flooring is less susceptible to deformation.
As a European brand, we provide our customers European style and tastes and market research shows that 80% of Europeans choose oak as their prominent choice.
We can guarantee that our décor is crafted and controlled by our own design team so that we can produce high quality and refined images which cannot be found in other brands, such as our ENJOY technology where the floor feels and looks like real wood.
Our laminate flooring is tested to European standard and each product passes the AC3 rating, which is suitable for residential and commercial use.
Every product from raw material to finished products are free of volatile organic compounds, tested for formaldehyde release, and qualifies the E1 standard, which is safe to be used indoors. To learn more about Lamett’s environmental focus, click here.
All of our oak wood comes from France, Belgium, Germany, and other European sustainable FSC and PEFC forests, whereby we can trace back each log to its original birthplace and every tree we adopt, we plant a new one.
Firstly, trees grow naturally in random heights and each tree is unique from one another. Just as wooden floors should come in random lengths to mimic naturally grown trees. In Europe, random length wooden floors are widely accepted because Europeans LOVE the naturalness. Lamett is a European brand so it is of no surprise that our products follow the European mindset. Any homeowner or designers who wish to decorate their projects with a European touch will see that Lamett is absolutely fitting to their vision. Secondly, Lamett is first of its kind to introduce random length wood flooring with click systems that ultimately is designed to help renovators save costs and time while being able to enjoy the European flavour. Renovators are not obligated to find professionals to do the installation, thus saving on costs. Renovators do not need to hassle with prolonged projects because they can easily install the flooring by themselves. Once more, the click locking system also doesn’t require glue or nail down, again, saving up on costs. Lastly, random flooring creates a naturalistic sensation that enables flooring to be distinctive, rare, and unique.
