The Hinoki cypress, known as “ the top ancient treasure", it is tall tree with sturdy deep roots, grows very slowly (50 cm in diameter takes more than 120-350 years to grow). The wood of the cypress is thin but strong, also contains an aroma oil, so when the light wind blows it emits a refreshing faint wood fragrance. Because of unique color of the Hinoki and unique fragrance, it was plundered during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. The cypress has the spirit of the emperor, and it has a great ornamental value.
